What is Lip Filler?

What is Lip Filler?

Lip filler is a cosmetic procedure applied with hyaluronic acid-based fillers to enhance the volume of the lips. This procedure is personalized, and elements such as the amount of filler and its longevity are determined together by the doctor and the patient. Lip filler focuses not only on the lips but also on the surrounding areas. Particular attention is given to the corners of the mouth, fine lines, the moisture balance of the lip mucosa, and nasolabial lines, considering all these as a whole. Complementary treatments may be added as needed to achieve a more balanced and natural appearance. The type of filler to be used is selected based on its longevity.

Preparation Before the Procedure

A detailed medical assessment is conducted prior to the procedure; the patient’s expectations are understood, and information about the procedure and its aftermath is shared. If necessary, pre-procedure photographs are taken.

How is the Procedure Performed?

Before the procedure, a topical anesthetic is applied to the lip area. After waiting for about 15-20 minutes, the filler is injected using microinjection techniques. The fillers contain local anesthetics that ensure comfort during and after the procedure. The application takes approximately 10-20 minutes.

Post-Procedure Considerations

After the procedure, mild swelling, redness, or bruising may occur in the lips. In our clinic, cold applications are used early on to minimize these effects. Eating and drinking are not recommended for about 1-2 hours after the procedure. The final results become noticeable 1 week to 10 days after the procedure, and the filler can be repeated if necessary.
